Berlin, 24 March 2025 - terralayr's latest battery energy storage system (BESS) in Altencelle, a district of Celle, has officially entered the construction phase.
With a capacity of 30 MWh and a power output of 15 MW—equivalent to output of approximately three wind turbines—this project will play a key role in stabilizing the local and regional power grids. By responding to fluctuations in renewable energy generation, the battery will help ensure a reliable and resilient energy supply.
We are proud to partner with AXSOL as our EPC provider and to integrate this asset into our digital energy flexibility platform once live. This project is another step toward our mission of making energy storage more efficient and accessible.
Dr. Jörg Nigge, Mayor of Stadt Celle, highlighted the broader impact for the town: “With this battery storage system, Celle is setting a strong example for a future-proof energy supply. We are not only creating the foundation for a stable and sustainable electricity network but also strengthening Celle as a business location. Investments like this bring innovation and tax revenues to our city.”
See the video below for more information on what the asset will look like - shown is our current site in Tittling, Bavaria, which went live earlier this year.
Stay tuned for more updates as we progress toward commissioning at the end of 2025!
